UTM Co-op Internship Program

The UTM Co-op Internship Program (UTMCIP), administered by the Experiential Education Unit (EEU), Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean, is a professional work-integrated learning opportunity for UTM students enrolled in specific programs of study.

Students enrolled in the UTMCIP stream of their Program of Study complete mandatory Work-Readiness modules, followed by a 12- or 16-month paid, full-time, academically related work experience. The time to degree completion for students enrolled in the UTMCIP is normally 5 years. Students that complete the UTMCIP graduate with an acknowledgement (“UTM Co-op Internship Program”) on their transcript.

The UTMCIP provides the perfect balance of application of academic skills along with an immersive industry experience. Students who participate in the program receive professional development and work readiness support before and during their work experience to make them as work-ready as possible.

The Department of Management is now offering UTM Co-op Internship Program (UTMCIP) streams for select programs. Find more information about UTMCIP on the Experiential Education website.

Theatre and Drama Studies

2026/2027 Program Changes

Starting with the 2026/27 intake of first-year students, TDS is becoming a program offered entirely at UTM. For its first 32 years, the Theatre and Drama Studies program was a joint venture of the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College. Starting with the 2026/27 intake of first-year students, TDS will become a program offered by UTM alone.

We understand that this change will raise questions if you are thinking about applying for theatre school programs. We have compiled FAQs that should address many of your concerns, but if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Director of Drama Studies at UTM, Holger Syme.
